Would you agree that having someone who has gone through the motions, traveled the path, and is willing to steer you in the right way can dramatically lessen your learning curve?

Would you agree that most successful people have had some form of coaching or mentoring during their journey to success?

Imagine buying a piece of IKEA furniture and trying to assemble it yourself without directions?  Or would you prefer to have the directions to guide you down the right path and save you a ton of aggravation and time?

…Enough said.

Successful people do not make their fortunes or build businesses overnight. Most successful people will tell you they invested time and money hiring coaches, mentors and training. The guidance of those who previously walked in your shoes, is priceless. That support system gives inexperienced marketers the opportunity to ask the silly questions, learn by doing and start making their dreams come true.

Here’s what it boils down to.  Having a personal mentor expedites the process of figuring out what works and what doesn’t work.  You skip the time and frustration of trying to connect the pieces of the puzzle with no instructions.  Your mentor acts as a compass or a guide.  He or she is a key component of your team that you can access for:

Knowledge
Direction
Advice
Strategy
Outside Perspective
And most importantly, Support

If you’re ready to take your business to the next level and are truly ready for the services that a great mentor can provide, I suggest you read on below…

Not all Mentors Are Created Equal

Do your homework by doing your research and really trust in your intuition when choosing the right mentor/coach for you.  To help you avoid a bad mentor-student experience, you should be clear on the expectations of both you and your coach right from the start.

These Are Things You Should Expect From Your Coach:

  • Is able to convey their message in a clear and concise manner that allows you to apply that knowledge for your own results
  • A great mentor is more than knowledgeable, but an expert in what they teach you
  • Has actually done the work and walked the path themselves
  • Holds you accountable for tasks your are responsible for.  This keeps you on track so that you experience doing the work and seeing the results of your effort
  • Doesn’t push their agenda on you.  Understanding it’s about you, not them
  • Understands your needs, cares about your process, and sees you as more than just a client, but relates to you as a friend

Here’s What NOT To Expect From Your Coach:

  • Don’t expect your mentor to be your therapist.  Your time together should be focused on helping you achieve your goals
  • Don’t expect your mentor to DO the work FOR you.  If you don’t implement what you learn, then you’re not only wasting your time, you’re wasting their time as well

That’s it!

Now that you are better informed about expectations for your coach, and are ready to take your business to the next level, it’s time to find the right coach who is willing to work with you and guide you through your journey.
