Social Media is probably one of the biggest buzz words out there right now. A presidential election was won through the use of social media. So what exactly is social media and how does it work. It’s many things and can be extremely powerful if done right. It includes things like facebook, you tube, twitter, linked-in, forums, blogs etc.. The way you need to think of social media is you’re at a BBQ on the internet getting to know folks. It’s about building relationships not trying to sell your product to everyone you meet

It’s not about just getting a Facebook account and expecting to see immediate traffic to your site. You need to get conversations started and get people engaged. You’re building the relationship first and getting to know each other or reconnecting with lost friends. You want to put thought provoking questions/statements on your page to get interaction started. When you’re looking to build a business you need to create a Fan Page. But don’t make the mistake of making it a strong sales page. Remember people are using social media outlets to connect and gain information. So make your fan page a place they can learn and connect with others. This applies to all social media outlets. You want to build a relationship and gain their trust not sell them business/product.

When you’re going to use multiple outlets you want to make sure that your connecting them all together. On your website you should link out to your FB, Twitter, Linked-In accounts. All of these outlets will work together to drive traffic to your site. If you take the time to do this right it’s very powerful and you’ll be amazed with the results. I recommend you learn how to do each of them but if you than decide to outsource to someone that’s okay. It’s very important you understand how they all work so you can direct someone on what you want. The biggest mistake people make is outsourcing the work and not giving clear direction on what their mission/goal is with them.

Let me know how it works for you. Leave me a comment.

Today I’m sitting in class discussing “Blogging Techniques”. Its a brave new world for this Baby Boomer. Sandy and I have so much to say its a matter of putting our thoughts, words, and experiences into words and sharing them with you. As our site continues to be updated, we’ll continue to grow and develop really great blog posts.

We’d like to spend the next few blog posts discussing the 3 How’s?

How to select a direct sales business

How to recruit, train, build downlines

How to stay motivated and inspired

Our Blogging Coach Amy Benitez of Eliot, LC gave us some interesting tips and strategies. Amy writes and edits for a living so I was giving this teacher my undivided attention. So much to learn so little time!

Stay tuned….
